Patna: Drivers who receive an incorrect e-challan will no longer need to visit transport or traffic offices, thanks to a new digital system introduced by the Transport Department. The updated process allows motorists to correct or cancel wrongly issued challans from home, reducing both stress and delay.
The National Informatics Centre (NIC) has been directed to upgrade the official portal, echallan.parivahan.gov.in, with a dedicated online correction facility. Using their mobile phones or computers, drivers can now file complaints and upload documents such as the vehicle registration certificate, a photograph of their vehicle and a copy of the disputed challan. The portal also allows users to track the progress of their application at every step.
Traffic police and enforcement teams have been instructed to prioritise online complaints. After reviewing the documents submitted, officers will confirm the error and send their recommendation to the State Transport Commissioner. Once approved, the corrected challan will be forwarded to the concerned District Transport Officer for updates.
The Transport Department has urged all motorists to use the online complaint feature instead of visiting offices for issues related to wrong challans. Officials believe that digital handling of complaints will speed up the process and improve transparency across the system.
