Bhagalpur: Two young boys from Bhagalpur district in Bihar ran away from home and travelled more than 100 km because of an online game. The boys, both in class 4, said they were given a “task” by a group leader in the game and left home to complete it. The incident has shocked their families, local people and the police.
The boys, Chanchal Raj and Ashish, left home on 28 June. They told their parents they were going out to buy notebooks and pens, but they never came back. When they did not return, their families became worried and called the police for help. After many hours of searching, the police found out that the boys were in Farakka, West Bengal, about 100 km from their village.
The police said the boys were told to meet at a Hanuman temple in Bhagalpur. They reached Pirpainti railway station but took the wrong train and ended up in Farakka instead. They stayed at the station until the police found them late at night. An officer said an FIR was filed quickly and photos of the boys were shared on social media and at bus stands and railway stations. The Railway Police gave information that helped find the boys safely.
Police said the boys did not return home from school that day. Instead, they took an auto to the station and one boy even bought new clothes to change out of his school uniform. The police spoke to other children and confirmed the story. Both boys are now safe with their families. Many people in the area are shocked that an online game could make small children travel so far from home.
