Patna: The Election Commission of India has received over 1.12 crore counting forms in Bihar as part of the state’s ongoing special summary revision of the electoral roll. According to figures released on Saturday, a total of 1,12,01,674 forms had been submitted by 7pm—amounting to 14.18% of Bihar’s 7.89 crore registered voters as of June 24.

Of the forms submitted, 23,90,329 have been uploaded to the system. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) accounted for the bulk of these, uploading 23,14,602 forms, while 75,789 were submitted online by general voters. The overall distribution of forms has reached 93.57%, with 7,38,89,333 forms circulated across the state so far.

The revision exercise, which involves door-to-door verification of voters, is being coordinated at the grassroots level by BLOs, supervisors, political party representatives and volunteers. The Election Commission stated that efforts are underway to ensure that no eligible voter is excluded from the rolls.

Vaishali tops in submissions, Lakhisarai lags behind

Among the state’s districts, Vaishali recorded the highest number of form submissions at 1,78,474, followed by Patna (1,69,846), East Champaran (1,46,007), Nalanda (1,37,384), and Samastipur (1,05,183). On the other end of the spectrum, Lakhisarai reported the lowest submission count with only 4,674 forms.

Political row brews over voter verification drive

The voter verification exercise, coming ahead of the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, has triggered political controversy. Leaders from the opposition INDIA bloc, including RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, have alleged that the Election Commission is operating under pressure from the ruling BJP. They have demanded a halt to the process.
