Patna: A 22-year-old man drowned while bathing at Barharwa Ghat in Patna on Sunday, with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) later recovering his body from the river.
The deceased was identified as Chhotu Kumar, son of Lala Mahto. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Pirbahore police station.
According to the information available, Kumar had gone to the ghat to bathe when he entered deep water and began drowning. People present at the spot tried to rescue him but could not save him.
SDRF Conducts Search Operation
After being alerted about the incident, Pirbahore police reached the ghat and initiated a search for Kumar. Divers and an SDRF team were subsequently called to assist in the operation.
The search continued in the river before the SDRF team recovered Kumar’s body.
Family Declines Post-Mortem
Police informed the family after the body was recovered. Family members told police that Kumar had drowned while bathing and said they had no suspicion against anyone else.
The family reportedly declined a post-mortem examination. The body was subsequently handed over to the family, according to the information provided.
