Patna: Five AC electric buses designated as Pink Buses have started operating in Patna under the PM-eBus Sewa scheme, offering women a dedicated public transport service on select routes.
The initiative was launched ahead of Raksha Bandhan as a special transport facility for women. The low-floor, battery-operated buses are designed to provide a more comfortable and environmentally friendly mode of travel.
Routes And Services
According to the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation, two of the five AC e-Pink Buses are operating on the Patna-Paliganj and Patna-Bailey Road routes. Another bus connects Patna with Bihta.
Officials said Bihar is expected to receive 400 AC electric buses under the scheme. Of these, 50 buses are planned to operate as Pink Buses exclusively for women.
The AC facility is expected to provide greater comfort to passengers during the summer months, while the electric buses will help reduce dependence on conventional fuel.
Patna-Paliganj Bus Fare
The fare from Patna to Paliganj is Rs 121. The fares for major stops on the route are:
- Dulhin Bazar: Rs 108
- Bikram: Rs 84
- Naubatpur: Rs 70
- Danapur Railway Station: Rs 40
On the return journey from Paliganj to Patna, fares are:
- Dulhin Bazar: Rs 14
- Bikram: Rs 38
- Naubatpur: Rs 51
- Danapur Railway Station: Rs 82
- Gandhi Maidan: Rs 121
Patna-Bihta IIT Route
The AC electric bus service between Patna and Bihta IIT has fares ranging from Rs 13 to Rs 72, depending on the stop.
The fare from Kargil Chowk to Multimodal Hub or Income Tax Crossing is Rs 13. It is Rs 18 for Secretariat or Zoo, Rs 24 for Gola Road, Rs 37 for Saguna More and Rs 42 for Danapur Railway Station.
Passengers travelling to Shivala More will pay Rs 55, while the fare to Hungama Water Park is Rs 66. The fare for Bihta and Bihta IIT is Rs 72.
Officials said the wider rollout of electric buses is aimed at strengthening public transport connectivity across Bihar while providing women with dedicated and more comfortable travel options.
