Patna: Patna’s Jay Prakash Narayan International (JPNI) Airport has commissioned its second aerobridge, bringing the facility into operation from Saturday in a move aimed at improving the flow of passengers and easing congestion during boarding.
The aerobridge, approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, was first used to handle Air India flights 2789 and 2790 on the Mumbai–Patna–Mumbai route via boarding gate 2.
“The activation of the second aerobridge will further streamline passenger movement and improve the overall travel experience,” said Chandra Pratap Dwivedi, the airport director. He added that the airport remained committed to “continuous infrastructure development and providing safe, seamless and efficient services”.

The upgrade comes shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the airport’s new terminal building on May 29. Spread across 65,155 sq metres, the facility has been designed to accommodate the city’s rising air traffic and includes 64 check-in counters, eight X-ray baggage scanners, five conveyor belts and three boarding gates. It can handle up to 3,000 passengers during peak hours.
