Patna: Authorities in Bihar have taken decisive action against alleged corruption in the state Planning Department, arresting Assistant Director Paramjay Singh after he was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. The arrest was carried out by a Vigilance Department team in the parking lot of the Planning Department building, where Singh was allegedly receiving the money.
The operation followed a complaint filed by Deputy Director Omprakash, who informed the Vigilance Department that Rs 1.70 crore had been disbursed to 26 industrial training institutes for office and related expenses. According to DSP Pawan Kumar, Singh allegedly approached Omprakash and claimed that Director Sunil Kumar had instructed him to collect Rs 10 lakh from all the institutions. Omprakash refused to comply and reported the matter to authorities.
Paramjay Singh was taken into custody while accepting Rs 5 lakh, described as the first installment of the demanded bribe. He is currently under interrogation, and investigators are reviewing relevant documents and exploring any additional potential transactions linked to the case.
The Vigilance Department confirmed that further legal action will follow based on the findings from ongoing investigations.
