Patna: With the auspicious Chhath Puja approaching, the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has gone into full action mode, carrying out extensive preparations to ensure a clean, safe, and hassle-free experience for devotees. Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena on Sunday inspected several ghats across the city to review cleanliness, lighting, access roads, and safety measures.
During his visit, Meena instructed officials to complete all ongoing works without delay and ensure that no devotee faces any inconvenience. “Chhath is not merely a festival but a celebration of discipline, devotion, and tradition. Clean ghats and convenience for devotees are our top priorities,” he said.

The civic body has been working round-the-clock, with area-wise inspections and continuous monitoring of water levels, waste management, and safety arrangements. “Any lapse in preparation will not be tolerated,” Meena added.
This year, the focus extends beyond traditional Ganga ghats and natural ponds to include artificial or temporary ghats, built to accommodate the rising number of devotees. Temporary ghats are being constructed at locations including Jayprakash Nagar Road, CID Colony, Rajvanshi Nagar Polytechnic Mor, Vijay Raghav Temple, the College of Arts and Crafts campus, Sindhu Shakti Mor, and Central Excise Colony.
To enhance safety and visibility, tower lights and repaired street lighting are being installed on major routes leading to the ghats. Cleaning and repair of ponds are underway, while idols from Durga Puja immersion sites are being cleared promptly to maintain water quality.
PMC teams — including engineers, officers, and sanitation workers — are stationed across the city and working in 24×7 shifts. As of now, 91 Ganga ghats and 62 ponds are nearing the final stages of preparation for the festival.
