Patna: A 10-year-old boy, Udham Kumar alias Lallu, was abducted from the Dhakanpura locality in Patna’s Gardanibagh area on Friday evening. The child, son of a local businessman, was kidnapped while standing near a temple close to his home.
According to the mother, Manisha Devi, the boy was grabbed by local youths, who gagged him with a towel and forced him into a car. Around 9 PM, the family received a phone call demanding a ransom of Rs 10 lakh. The kidnappers threatened to harm the child if their demands were not met.
The child’s father, Sonu Kumar Singh, a private finance professional associated with the banking sector, was away in Sampatchak at the time. Upon being informed, he advised his wife to immediately contact the police. Law enforcement launched an urgent investigation and raid operation.
Within 12 hours, police located and rescued the boy near Bapu Tower. The accused had reportedly fled the scene under pressure from the police. Gardanibagh Station House Officer Pratosh Kumar confirmed the child’s safe recovery.
The boy later identified two of the accused as local residents Chhotu and Aneesh, who are alleged to be drug users. He recounted that he was taken to a house, had his mouth tied, and was locked inside a room during the ordeal.
