Patna: Residents of Patna are set to face higher fuel and utility expenses after gas companies revised the prices of CNG and PNG across domestic, commercial and industrial categories.
The new rates came into effect from May 9, 2026.
Domestic And Commercial Gas Prices Increased
Under the revised pricing structure, the rate of Domestic Piped Natural Gas (DPNG) has been increased from Rs 49.44 per SCM to Rs 49.94 per SCM.
Commercial PNG (CPNG) rates have witnessed a sharper rise, climbing from Rs 87.89 to Rs 93.27 per SCM.
Industrial PNG (IPNG) rates for consumption up to 5,000 SCM have also been revised upward from Rs 81.11 to Rs 86.25 per SCM.
For industrial consumers using more than 5,000 SCM, the new rate has been fixed at Rs 85.95 per SCM, compared with the earlier Rs 80.90.
CNG Price Raised By Rs 1 Per Kg
The price of compressed natural gas used in vehicles has also increased by Rs 1 per kilogram.
CNG in Patna will now cost Rs 89.90 per kg instead of Rs 88.90.
The increase is expected to affect auto-rickshaw drivers, taxi operators and commercial transport services dependent on CNG.
Concerns Over Rising Household And Business Costs
The revised rates are likely to increase monthly expenses for domestic consumers while simultaneously raising operational costs for hotels, restaurants and small industrial units.
Transport sector workers have also expressed concern over rising fuel costs amid fears of broader inflationary pressure.
Speculation regarding a possible revision in petrol and diesel prices after May 15 has also intensified, although Samrat Choudhary had recently dismissed the possibility of an imminent fuel price hike.
