Patna: A big controversy has hit Patna after the director of a well-known coaching institute was arrested in a cyber fraud case involving Rs 2.40 crore. Sanjay Singh, who runs a famous coaching centre in the Pirbahor area, was arrested by Haryana Police and taken into custody. Police say that Singh was linked to a gang that tricked people by threatening them with “digital arrest” and then took money from them. The case was registered at Rohtak police station in Haryana.
During questioning, Singh first denied the charges and claimed he had nothing to do with the fraud. However, when police presented evidence, including details of his bank accounts, he became quiet. After some time, he admitted that he was involved and said he joined the gang because of financial problems. According to police, Singh’s role was to contact people and ask for money as part of the scam.
Singh also told police that the main leader of the gang is from Bihar. Investigators have now taken Singh on transit remand to Haryana so that they can continue their investigation and find more people involved in the case. Another youth was also detained earlier, but police later found that he was not involved. This youth said he had warned Singh not to get involved in the illegal activity, but Singh did not listen to him.
The case has raised questions about the coaching institute’s reputation. This centre is considered one of the top places in Bihar for preparing for competitive exams like BSSC, TET and BPSC. Police have recovered several suspicious phone numbers and other digital evidence from Singh’s phone. The cheated money was reportedly deposited into an account linked to the coaching institute’s trust, which has made the issue even more serious. Students and parents are now worried about the future of the institute.
