Gayaji: Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, popularly known as Bageshwar Baba, has announced that he will take out a padyatra (pilgrimage walk) from Delhi to Vrindavan. The padyatra will be held from November 7 to 16 and will highlight his demand that India be officially declared a Hindu nation. Baba made this announcement while on a three-day visit to Bodhgaya, where he spoke about the importance of unity, respect, and brotherhood in society.
He said that it is everyone’s duty to respect saints and devotees and warned against attacking anyone’s faith. According to him, society should focus on peace and harmony instead of disputes and divisions. He also said that education and health services should be free so that everyone can join the mainstream of development. Baba added that the ancient Indian idea of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — that the whole world is one family — should be spread across the globe.
Baba arrived in Bodhgaya from Varanasi by a special flight and was welcomed at the airport by local officials. He was taken to Sambodhi Resort with tight security. During his stay, he will recite the Shrimad Bhagwat Purana for three days and also take part in the traditional pinddaan ritual.
Speaking about politics and development, Baba praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that his government has given top priority to national security and development. He said India is on its way to becoming a world leader, but basic services like education and healthcare must be made more affordable. “Liquor is cheap while medicines are expensive,” he said, pointing out the need for reforms. He also said that India needs good relations with neighbouring countries like Nepal because mutual cooperation will help ensure peace and stability in the region.
