Patna: A private court clerk was shot in broad daylight in Danapur on Monday, leaving the area shaken and raising questions about law and order in Bihar’s capital.
The victim, identified as Upendra Kumar, was riding his motorcycle to court around 10.30am when two men on a bike opened fire near Usri turn in Shahpur. One bullet grazed his shoulder, narrowly missing his neck.
Local residents rushed Upendra to a private hospital near Saguna turn, where his condition is said to be stable. His younger son, Ravi Kumar, said that his father had phoned the family immediately after the incident before being admitted to hospital.
Police teams, including senior officers, arrived at the scene and began an investigation. Officers confirmed that the victim has named the attackers in his statement, and CCTV footage from the area is being examined to trace their movements.
“Every possible action is being taken in view of the seriousness of the matter. The accused will be arrested soon,” said City SP West Bhanu Pratap Singh.
Investigators suspect that an old dispute or personal enmity may be behind the attack, given Upendra’s role as a private clerk in the Danapur court. Police are probing both personal and professional angles.
