Patna: With Diwali and Chhath approaching, demand for train tickets between Bihar and Delhi has surged, with several trains already witnessing heavy bookings and waiting lists.
Amid the rush, discussions about a sleeper Vande Bharat Express between Patna and New Delhi have gained momentum on social media. However, passengers should note that Indian Railways has not officially announced the launch of such a service, its timetable or its date of operation.
As of now, there is no confirmed schedule for a Patna-New Delhi sleeper Vande Bharat before Diwali or Chhath.
Will Sleeper Vande Bharat Run Between Patna and Delhi?
The possibility of introducing a sleeper Vande Bharat on the Patna-Delhi route has generated considerable interest among passengers, particularly because of the expected festive travel rush.
However, the reports circulating online about the train starting before Diwali or Chhath have not been officially confirmed by Indian Railways.

According to information circulating about the proposed train, the sleeper Vande Bharat could have 16 coaches.
The reported configuration includes:
- 11 AC 3-tier coaches with 611 berths
- 4 AC 2-tier coaches with 188 berths
- 1 AC First Class coach with 24 berths
This would provide accommodation for around 827 passengers.
However, these details should be treated as proposed specifications until Indian Railways officially confirms the train and its final configuration.
Patna-Delhi Already Has Several Premium Trains
The Patna-New Delhi route is already served by several premium trains, including Rajdhani Express, Tejas Rajdhani Express, Humsafar Express and Garib Rath Express.
Depending on the service and schedule, existing trains generally take around 12 to 14 hours to cover the route.
A sleeper Vande Bharat could offer another premium overnight travel option, combining faster rail travel with modern onboard facilities.
What Facilities Could Sleeper Vande Bharat Offer?
The sleeper Vande Bharat train is designed around enhanced passenger comfort and modern amenities.
The proposed configuration includes features such as USB charging points, reading lights, real-time passenger information displays, Wi-Fi, infotainment screens and a modular pantry.
Passengers could also get touch-free bio-vacuum toilets, safer upper-berth ladders and dedicated facilities for elderly and differently abled travellers.
The AC First Class coaches are designed to offer additional amenities, including shower facilities with hot water.

The sleeper Vande Bharat trains are equipped with several safety-focused features.
These include the Kavach automatic train protection system, emergency talk-back units, automatic plug doors and CCTV surveillance in coaches.
