Patna: A family in Patna was held hostage and violently attacked during a daring robbery at the home of Dr Shuvi Sharan, a physician at Medanta Hospital, in the Agamkuan area.
According to police, five to six armed intruders broke into the house around 2:00 AM, confronting the doctor’s parents and threatening them with firearms. When the family resisted, the doctor’s mother was beaten, sustaining injuries severe enough to break her teeth. Another woman present in the house was also attacked and injured.
The assailants ransacked the property, stealing diamond and gold jewelry, cash, and other valuables worth more than Rs 5 lakh, before fleeing the scene. The incident, which has heightened fear in the neighbourhood, was reported to the Agamkuan police station on Friday morning.
Police officials said they are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby cameras and gathering technical evidence to identify and apprehend the suspects. A written complaint has been lodged by the family, and officers have assured that a thorough investigation is underway.
“This is a brazen act that has left the family traumatised,” said the Agamkuan police station in-charge. “We are working to track down the criminals as quickly as possible.”
