Patna: The Kankarbagh police have arrested three members of a drug trafficking gang, including a woman, who were reportedly selling drug injections to students and young people in the city. The accused, identified as Amarjeet Kumar, Sonam Devi, and Ravi Paswan, all residents of Ramkrishna Nagar slum, were apprehended near coaching institutes in Kankarbagh on December 8, following a police tip-off.
A total of 151 drug injections were recovered from the trio. DSP Sadar-1 Abhinav said the accused were connected to traffickers previously arrested in the area, though this is the first arrest of the three individuals. “We are continuing investigations to identify and apprehend other members of the gang,” he added.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to selling “dry drugs” for six months, primarily targeting students and young people. They also revealed that the injections were procured from another trafficker still at large in the area.
The arrests follow a series of similar operations in Patna. In October, police detained seven members of a drug trafficking network in Kankarbagh and Patna City, recovering more than 16,000 drug injections and 76,000 sleeping pills.
Authorities have urged parents to closely monitor their children, warning that drug use can have severe physical and mental health consequences, as well as hindering development.
