Patna : Residents of Patna may hear emergency sirens between 1 pm and 2 pm on October 6, but the Bihar Directorate of Civil Defence has clarified that the sounds will be part of a scheduled technical test.
The Directorate has appealed to the public to remain calm and not fall for rumours, confusion or fear when the sirens are activated during the testing period.
Emergency Siren System To Undergo Technical Test
According to the Bihar Directorate of Civil Defence, the technical test will be conducted from the control room at New Punaichak in Patna, where the emergency siren system has been installed.
During the exercise, the system will broadcast designated test signals, including warning and all-clear signals, to check whether the emergency alert mechanism is functioning properly.
The testing is intended to assess the operational readiness of the siren system and ensure that the warning mechanism works as expected when required.
No Actual Emergency Involved
The Civil Defence Directorate has made it clear that the scheduled siren test has no connection with any actual disaster or emergency.
The sirens will not indicate an air raid, fire, flood, earthquake or any other emergency situation. Residents have therefore been advised not to panic if they hear the signals.
The Directorate has also urged people to avoid spreading or believing unverified information and to remain patient during the testing period.
Test Scheduled From 1 PM To 2 PM
The technical test is scheduled for October 6, 2026, between 1 pm and 2 pm. Residents in Patna may hear different designated siren signals during this window.
The Civil Defence Directorate has appealed to the public to treat the exercise strictly as a technical test of the emergency warning system and not as an indication of any immediate threat.
