Patna: Passengers on an Indigo flight from Delhi to Patna were left frustrated and stranded after the aircraft was diverted to Varanasi on Sunday. The flight, carrying 140 passengers, was scheduled to land in Patna but was rerouted due to the unavailability of landing slots at the airport.
Authorities attributed the disruption to heightened security measures surrounding the visit of Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, who is making his first trip to Bihar since assuming office. Following his stop in Patna, the Vice President is expected to travel to Muzaffarpur to offer prayers at the Chamunda Devi Temple in Katra, with tight security arrangements along the route to the helipad.
Passengers expressed anger over the diversion, which caused significant delays and inconvenience. Airport officials urged travellers to check with airlines for updates, citing the exceptional security protocols in place for the vice-presidential visit.
