Patna Flood: DM-SSP Direct Relief And Rescue Operations In Flood-Affected Areas

Patna district administration has intensified relief and rescue operations as rising river levels affect low-lying areas, with relief camps, community kitchens, boats, medical facilities and animal-care arrangements in place.

Patna: Relief and rescue operations have been intensified across flood-affected areas of Patna district following a rise in the water levels of rivers flowing through the district. Under the directions of District Magistrate Kundan Kumar, sub-divisional officers, circle officers and officials from concerned departments are working to assist and protect affected residents.

People living in low-lying and waterlogged areas are being moved to safer locations and relief camps wherever required. The administration has also put arrangements in place for food, drinking water, sanitation and healthcare at the relief centres.

Officials are maintaining continuous surveillance of the flood situation and have been instructed to respond according to local requirements.

Relief Camps And Community Kitchens Operational

Relief camps and community kitchens are being operated at several locations across Patna district.

These include Middle School Kachahari in Barh, Baldeva High School in Danapur, Minar Ghat and Bind Toli in Patliputra, Higher Secondary School Sabnima in Athmalgola, and Middle School Ghoshwari and Irrigation Building in Bakhtiyarpur.

In Mokama, community kitchens and relief camps are also operating at Panchayati Raj Office in Naya Kasaha, Bishahari Sthan in Shivnagar, Bhola Sthan in Purani Kasaha, Kisan Bhawan in Dumra Janjira, Community Building in Sitarampur, Vijaygarh and the block premises in Shivnar.

District Magistrate Kundan Kumar has directed all sub-divisional and circle officers to ensure that affected residents receive quality food, clean drinking water, medical assistance and other essential facilities at relief camps and community kitchens.

72 Boats Operating Free Of Cost

To help flood-affected residents reach safer locations and maintain essential movement, 72 boats are being operated free of cost across the district according to local requirements.

Officials have been instructed to ensure that sufficient boats remain available in affected areas based on the needs of residents.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is also assisting people in affected areas with 14 boats.

Medical And Essential Facilities At Relief Centres

Relief camps have been equipped with arrangements for medical care and essential medicines, along with drinking water and toilets.

The administration has focused on ensuring that displaced and affected families do not face difficulties in accessing basic services while staying at relief centres.

Special arrangements have also been made for livestock. Affected areas are being provided with animal fodder, shelters and necessary veterinary care.

Embankment And Road Repair Work Underway

The administration is also undertaking repair and strengthening work at locations affected by overflow and seepage.

Under the Punpun Flood Protection Division, Anisabad, arrangements have been made to repair a road damaged by water overflow in Paliganj. The repair work will begin as soon as the water level recedes.

Under the Punpun Flood Protection Division, Patna City, repair and strengthening work is underway on embankments along the Dardha river at Sitachak in Dhanarua block, as well as in Veer and Devdaha panchayats, following overflow and seepage.

Repair and strengthening work is also being carried out on the Mahatmain river at Kasmiriya and Bankipur Muraina in Dhanarua block.

Along the Punpun river, work is being undertaken at Lakhanpur, Fatehpur, Albakshpur and Kali on affected embankment sections.

Continuous Monitoring Of Flood Situation

The district administration is keeping the flood situation under continuous observation and carrying out relief and rescue operations according to requirements in affected areas.

Officials and field teams have been directed to remain active so that assistance can be provided promptly if conditions change.

The administration has appealed to residents to exercise caution during the flood situation, avoid rumours and not panic. District Magistrate Kundan Kumar said the district administration remains prepared to provide assistance and essential support to people affected by the flooding.
