Patna: Tourism activities along the Ganga in Patna have received a boost with the relaunch of the ‘Ganga Vihar’ cruise service. Operated from Gandhi Ghat, the cruise has been upgraded with modern amenities and redesigned interiors to enhance the visitor experience.
The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation has handed over operations of the vessel to Lenin Deluxe Cruise Company as part of efforts to strengthen river tourism in the state. The cruise resumed operations on Monday following a comprehensive refurbishment.
Upgraded Facilities for Tourists
The double-decker vessel can accommodate up to 65 passengers at a time. The lower deck houses an air-conditioned dining area, while the upper deck features an open-air seating space and a dance floor.
Officials said the upgrades are aimed at providing a more comfortable and engaging experience for visitors travelling along the Ganga.
Heritage-Focused River Journey
According to operations manager of the cruise service, passengers will receive information about the historical and cultural landmarks located along the riverbanks.
Guides have been arranged to explain the significance of various ghats, temples, mosques, and heritage structures visible during the journey, allowing tourists to learn more about Patna’s history and culture.
Route and Timings
The cruise begins its journey from Gandhi Ghat, travels towards Gai Ghat, and returns to the starting point.
The service currently operates on Saturdays and Sundays. Boarding begins at 4:55 PM, and the cruise sails from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. During the trip, passengers can enjoy music, entertainment, and views of the riverfront.
Ticket Prices and Packages
The ticket price has been fixed at Rs 899 per person. The fare includes high tea and snacks.
Special packages are also available for group bookings and private events. An hourly charter package is priced at Rs 22,500 and includes essential onboard facilities. Three-hour group packages are available at varying rates depending on the number of passengers and include meals, snacks, and high tea.
Boost for River Tourism
Tourism officials believe the revamped cruise service will help attract more visitors to Patna and strengthen the city’s growing river tourism sector.
By combining sightseeing, cultural interpretation, dining, and event facilities, the Ganga Vihar cruise aims to offer a distinctive experience on the waters of the Ganga while showcasing the heritage of Bihar’s capital.
