Patna: In a bid to ease the preparations for Chhath, one of the region’s most revered festivals, the Patna Municipal Corporation has launched a city-wide initiative to deliver holy Ganga water directly to residents’ homes.
The programme was formally inaugurated today at J.P. Setu, where Divisional Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar, District Magistrate Thiyagarajan S.M., Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena, and other senior officials flagged off the specially equipped tankers. Each of the city’s six municipal zones will receive two dedicated tankers, which will distribute the water under the supervision of municipal staff.
The initiative also includes arrangements to fill small ponds and artificial reservoirs with Ganga water, ensuring that devotees can perform Chhath rituals with minimal disruption while maintaining the sanctity of the festival.
“Chhath festival is a symbol of public faith,” said Municipal Commissioner Meena. “It is our priority to ensure that devotees do not face any difficulty in obtaining Ganga water. This initiative is a wonderful confluence of devotion, cleanliness, and convenience.”
