Patna: Security agencies have ramped up their activities ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, with a strong focus on the state’s open border with Nepal. On Friday, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Director General Sanjay Singhal arrived at the border headquarters in Patna to review preparedness and coordinate efforts to maintain law and order during the polls.
He was accompanied by Special Director General Anupama Nilekar Chandra, and the two senior officers held detailed discussions with Inspector General and State Nodal Officer Nishit Kumar Ujjwal on security arrangements and election-related vigilance.
The top SSB officials later met with Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit and Director General of Police Vinay Kumar, during which several decisions were taken to strengthen coordination between state authorities and border forces.

Addressing officers, the SSB Director General asserted that no illegal activity or cross-border infiltration would be tolerated during the election period. He instructed for enhanced surveillance, increased patrolling, and additional troop deployment at vulnerable locations along the India–Nepal border.
According to sources, Singhal also commended the frontier headquarters for maintaining high vigilance and operational efficiency in recent months. He emphasised the need for strict monitoring of contraband, liquor, and cash movement to prevent any attempt at influencing the electoral process. Officials were directed to take immediate action on any suspicious activity to ensure peaceful and transparent elections.
Earlier in the day, the SSB chief and Special Director General were accorded a guard of honour upon their arrival at the Frontier Headquarters in Patna. The visit marks a key phase in the central and state security coordination efforts to safeguard Bihar’s electoral process.
