Patna: A man in Patna has been accused of using a GPS tracking device hidden inside his wife’s slippers to monitor her movements.
The case, reported from the Phulwarisharif area, came to light after a confrontation between the husband, his wife and another man escalated into a public disturbance, prompting police intervention.
According to police, the man — a resident of Ekta Nagar — had grown suspicious of his wife’s movements and suspected her of being involved in a relationship with another individual. Acting on these suspicions, he allegedly concealed a GPS tracker inside her footwear without her knowledge.
On Saturday, when his wife left home, the man is said to have tracked her location in real time. When the device indicated that she had remained at a particular location for an extended period, he went there and confronted her.
Police said the situation quickly escalated after the man allegedly found his wife with another person. A heated argument ensued, drawing the attention of neighbours and passersby, and leading to a gathering at the scene.
Officers from the Phulwarisharif police station arrived shortly after being alerted and took all three individuals into custody. They were later brought to the police station, where arguments and counter-allegations continued for some time.
“Upon receiving information, the police reached the spot and brought all three individuals to the station. The situation remained tense due to ongoing disputes between the parties,” said station house officer Shahnawaz Alam.
Police said further inquiry is underway, and no formal complaint had been confirmed at the time of reporting.
