Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) is set to strengthen street lighting infrastructure across the city with the installation of 35 new high-mast lights at key locations spread across 30 municipal wards.
The project, estimated to cost around Rs 1.6 crore, is being implemented under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO).
According to civic officials, each high-mast structure will stand 12.5 metres tall and will be fitted with six floodlights, providing a combined illumination capacity of 1,200 watts.
The new installations will supplement the 166 high-mast lights already operational within the PMC area.
Focus On Safety And Night-Time Mobility
Officials said the project is aimed at improving visibility in busy public spaces, major intersections, markets and residential areas, while also enhancing public safety.
The improved lighting is expected to make movement safer and more convenient during evening and night hours, particularly in densely populated localities and high-traffic zones.
Former Bankipur MLA Nitin Navin said the initiative had been pursued through coordinated efforts with HUDCO and municipal authorities.
He said the project would not only improve urban infrastructure but also contribute to greater security and convenience for residents.
