Patna: Aspirants for the Bihar police sub-inspector (SI) examination held a protest march in Patna on Monday, alleging that the question paper for the mains examination held on May 27 had been leaked.
The demonstrators, carrying banners and placards, marched from Patna College to JP Golambar, where they raised demands for the exam to be cancelled and for a transparent investigation into the alleged leak.
Police personnel were deployed in large numbers at the protest site to maintain order.
Candidates demand cancellation and inquiry
The protesters said the examination, conducted for 1,799 posts, had been compromised and called for its cancellation.
They also sought a fair inquiry, public disclosure of investigation findings and action against those found responsible.
Student leader Saurabh Kumar said the aspirants had submitted representations to multiple authorities, including the Economic Offences Unit (EOU), the Chief Minister’s Office and the Director General of Police, but had not received any response.
He said the protest was organised after candidates felt their concerns had not been addressed.
Attempt to cross barricades
At JP Golambar, some protesters attempted to cross police barricades but were stopped by security personnel.
No untoward incident was reported during the demonstration.
Around 36,000 candidates appeared
According to officials, around 36,000 candidates appeared for the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission examination, which was conducted across five centres in the state.
The authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the allegations of a paper leak or on the demands raised by the aspirants.
