Patna: The Bihar Education Department has initiated disciplinary action against government school heads in Aurangabad district over negligence in Class 1 student enrollment and data entry on the e-Shikshakosh portal.
The department has ordered a three-day salary deduction for 54 headmasters and in-charge principals after finding that their schools had failed to upload any Class 1 enrollment data. In addition, explanations have been sought from 261 school heads whose schools recorded less than 30 per cent data entry.
Review Revealed Poor Performance
The action follows a review conducted on June 9 by the Education Department’s Additional Chief Secretary. According to the District Education Officer’s office, Aurangabad’s performance in updating Class 1 enrollment details on the e-Shikshakosh portal was found to be unsatisfactory.
Officials said several schools had failed to upload enrollment records despite repeated instructions from the department.
Salary Deduction for Zero Data Entry
Departmental scrutiny identified 54 schools where no online entry of newly enrolled Class 1 students had been made.
Terming the lapse a serious violation of departmental directives, authorities ordered a deduction of three days’ salary from the concerned headmasters and in-charge principals. They have also been directed to ensure 100 per cent data entry within three days.
261 School Heads Served Notices
The review further found that 261 schools had uploaded details of less than 30 per cent of enrolled students.
Headmasters and principals of these schools have been asked to submit explanations within two days. The department warned that further disciplinary action could follow if the responses are found unsatisfactory.
Schools Across 11 Blocks Under Scanner
The salary-cut order affects schools located in Aurangabad, Barun, Deo, Daudnagar, Goh, Haspura, Kutumba, Madanpur, Nabinagar, Obra and Rafiganj blocks.
The affected institutions include primary, middle and Urdu schools where Class 1 enrollment data had not been uploaded to the portal.
Nabinagar Reports Highest Number of Notices
Among all blocks, Nabinagar recorded the highest number of show-cause notices, with 43 schools under scrutiny.
Rafiganj followed with 34 schools, while Kutumba had 30, Obra 25, Barun 23 and Aurangabad block 21. Notices were also issued to 20 schools in Goh, 18 each in Daudnagar and Deo, 15 in Haspura and 14 in Madanpur.
Digital Monitoring to Drive Accountability
Education officials indicated that accountability will increasingly be linked to data reflected on the e-Shikshakosh portal rather than paper records alone.
Following the action, school administrators across the district have reportedly begun updating enrollment records to avoid further disciplinary measures.
