Patna: Protests broke out in Bihar’s capital Patna on Thursday after the mysterious death of two children sparked anger in the Indrapuri area. Residents blocked the Atal Path and set vehicles ablaze, demanding answers as police investigations continue.
The incident dates back to August 15, when the bodies of Lakshmi, aged seven, and her five-year-old brother Deepak, were found in a car parked just 200 metres from their home. The children, belonging to Ganesh Kumar’s family, had left for private tuition earlier that afternoon but never returned.
Their mother accused a local teacher of murdering the siblings, leading police to interrogate the tutor and examine CCTV footage. However, investigators later gave the teacher a clean chit after video evidence showed the children returning safely from her home.
The family, unconvinced, say they believe the deaths were not accidental. While police have indicated that an accident is a likely cause, they are continuing to probe the case from multiple angles.
The unsolved nature of the deaths has fuelled public outrage, with residents accusing authorities of failing to provide clarity or justice.
