Patna: Two young women accused of attempting to rob a jewellery shop near Kurji Bridge in Patna have allegedly told police that they devised the plan after watching videos related to robberies and criminal activities on YouTube and social media platforms.
According to investigators, the accused had been preparing for the crime for some time and had purchased pepper spray online before carrying out the attempted robbery at Maa Vaishno Jewellers, located within the jurisdiction of Digha police station.
Police said the women left their homes on the day of the incident pretending they were heading to coaching classes. Their bags allegedly contained pepper spray, a small knife and other items intended for use during the operation.
Attempted Robbery At Jewellery Shop
According to the police investigation, the two women entered the jewellery shop on Friday evening posing as customers.
They allegedly asked shop owner Rajesh Kumar to show them gold tops (earrings). While he was displaying the jewellery, one of the women is accused of suddenly spraying pepper spray into his face.
The spray caused severe irritation to the shopkeeper’s eyes and created panic inside the shop.
Police said the pair then attempted to flee with the jewellery. However, Kumar reacted quickly and managed to pull down the shop’s main shutter.
As a result, one of the accused, a minor girl, became trapped inside the premises while her alleged accomplice managed to escape from the scene.

Arrest And Recovery
Following information about the incident, Digha police reached the area and launched a search operation.
A short while later, officers arrested the second accused, identified as Chandni Kumari, in the Kurji locality.
Police said searches of their bags led to the recovery of pepper spray, a small knife and mobile phones.
During initial questioning, both allegedly admitted that financial difficulties had motivated them to plan the robbery.
Investigators claim the duo studied robbery techniques through crime-related content available on social media and YouTube before attempting to execute their plan.
Further Investigation Underway
Divyanjali, DSP (Law and Order-2), said an FIR has been registered in connection with the case.
Chandni Kumari has been sent to judicial custody, while the minor accused has been placed in a remand home in accordance with legal procedures governing juvenile cases.
Police are also examining whether the two women may have been involved in any previous criminal incidents.
The investigation remains ongoing.
