Patna: Patna’s newly built multi-level car parking at Maurya Lok, developed under the Smart City project, is rapidly becoming popular among residents. The fully automated and mechanised system is reducing haphazard parking and easing congestion around Buddha Marg and nearby areas.
The facility allows vehicles to be placed on the ground floor and automatically parked on upper levels, a system that officials say has improved road safety as well as the city’s traffic flow. Animesh Kumar Parashar, managing director of Patna Smart City, has directed staff on site to encourage more people to use the parking.
The complex has a total capacity of 156 vehicles, divided into two sections. Part A accommodates 96 vehicles, including those of visitors and tourists heading to Maurya Lok shops, offices, and attractions such as the planetarium. Part B, with space for 60 vehicles, is reserved for employees of 39 offices located in the Maurya Lok area, including banks and other institutions.
Both sections are linked by a foot overbridge on Buddha Marg, offering easy movement for users. The facility is equipped with CCTV, parking sensors and ANPR cameras to strengthen security.
The fee has been set at Rs 20 for the first hour and Rs 10 for every additional hour, with payment options available via cash, UPI and debit cards. Authorities have appealed to the public to make full use of the modernised parking system.
