Patna: Patna Mayor Sita Sahu has issued a show cause notice to Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar, giving him seven days to explain his conduct during the recent board meeting of the municipal corporation.
The notice, issued after the uproar at the meeting on July 11 at Hotel Panash, accuses Parashar of making statements that damaged the reputation of the Mayor’s son, Shishir Kumar. According to the notice, Parashar allegedly called Shishir a “criminal” and claimed he entered the meeting armed, which the Mayor described as deeply damaging to his image.
The Mayor has also objected to Parashar’s public statement that “cleanliness work will continue in the Municipal Corporation,” calling it insulting. She questioned his decision to boycott the board meeting despite 80% of councillors being present and proposals being passed by majority.
The Empowered Standing Committee, using powers under the Bihar Municipality Act, 2007, has directed Parashar to submit a written clarification within seven days of receiving the notice. The Mayor warned that if no reply is received, legal action will be initiated under Section 36(7) of the Act.
