Patna: Police in Bihar have arrested three men accused of filming a young woman without her consent and attempting to blackmail her for money.
The suspects – Vaibhav Kumar from Koilwar in Bhojpur, Aman Kumar from Sikarhta in Bhojpur, and Raviranjan from the Bind area of Nalanda – are aged between 18 and 19 and were living in a hostel in Patliputra while preparing for medical entrance examinations.
According to police, the men allegedly recorded the woman from the ventilator of a bathroom in a neighbouring house, using a mobile phone. They are then said to have obtained her phone number and contacted her, claiming to possess compromising video footage and demanding money in exchange for deleting it.
The victim reported the matter to Patliputra police station. Officers arranged for her to invite the accused to a meeting under the pretext of paying them. The three were detained at the scene, and police recovered three mobile phones and a laptop, which is believed to contain the video.
City SP Diksha confirmed the arrests and said further investigation is under way. The fathers of two of the accused are farmers, while the third’s father is a teacher.
