Patna: Work on the Patna Metro project has been accelerated following a high-level review meeting aimed at ensuring faster construction and timely delivery of services for residents. Senior officials emphasised speed, efficiency and reliability as key priorities for the city’s long-awaited mass transit system.
The meeting was chaired by Sandeep Kumar R. Pudkalkatti, Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department (UDHD) and Managing Director of Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRCL). Representatives from PMRCL, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), and other concerned agencies attended to assess progress and coordinate execution strategies.
During the review, officials conducted a detailed analysis of plan versus achievement, examining construction progress section by section. Constraints and challenges affecting timelines were identified and discussed in depth. Agencies were instructed to address bottlenecks quickly to prevent delays and maintain the project schedule.
Pudkalkatti stressed the need for the early opening of the remaining two stations on the Priority Corridor, describing them as critical to providing immediate benefits to commuters. He reiterated that the administration’s goal is to speed up construction while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Once operational, the metro is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion, improve daily commuting, and strengthen urban infrastructure in the state capital. Officials said regular reviews would continue to ensure the project remains on track and delivers dependable public transport to the people of Patna at the earliest.
