Patna: Patna’s much-awaited metro service is on track to start operations from August 15, with the Malahi Pakadi station building now nearing completion. The first metro train will run between the New Pataliputra Bus Terminal and Malahi Pakadi station as part of the primary corridor.
The Malahi Pakadi station, located at the corner of Hanuman Nagar Road and Pataliputra Stadium Road, is the only two-storey station among the initial four operational stations. It will have four entry and exit gates, along with four lifts and escalators to ensure smooth passenger movement. Concrete stairs and ramps are also being constructed for additional convenience.
Passengers will enter the station from the ground floor, access ticket counters on the first floor using stairs, ramps, lifts or escalators, and then reach the platform on the second floor. Vehicle parking facilities will be available towards the Pataliputra Stadium side of the station, while shops will also be constructed within the building to generate additional revenue.
Officials estimate that around 1,00,000 residents of the Malahi Pakadi area will directly benefit from the station, eliminating the need to cross busy roads to reach the metro.
The distances between stations on this route include Malahi Pakadi to Khemnichak (1,516.84 metres), Khemnichak to Bhootnath (1,016.02 metres), Bhootnath to Zero Mile (1,317.45 metres), and Zero Mile to Patliputra Bus Terminal (1,437.57 metres). However, metro trains will not stop at Khemnichak station initially as construction work there is yet to begin.
