Patna: Patna Municipal Commissioner on Tuesday conducted a field inspection of Wards 21, 28 and 37 under the Nutan Rajdhani Zone to review drainage, sanitation and drain management arrangements.
During the inspection near Veer Kunwar Singh Park at R-Block, officials discussed the recurring issue of waterlogging caused by the limited capacity of an old drainage channel. At present, the corporation is managing water discharge through pump sets.
To provide immediate relief, the Municipal Commissioner directed officials to construct a temporary roadside drain and connect it to the serpentine drain. The sanitation condition in Chandrakala Gali was also assessed by opening a drainage chamber, where the system was found to be functioning satisfactorily.
Action Against Illegal Waste Dumping
During the inspection near Nehru Nagar Golambar, the local councilor informed officials that some food vendors and nearby hotels were opening drainage chambers to dump waste. Despite regular cleaning operations, such practices were reportedly leading to repeated blockages and disruption of the drainage network.
The Municipal Commissioner directed officials to identify the violators and impose penalties. A special zonal-level monitoring team was also ordered to be constituted for continuous surveillance and enforcement.

Officials were further instructed to lodge FIRs against individuals or establishments that continue littering after receiving three notices.
Waterlogging Issue Resolved at Ramgulam Chowk

During the inspection of the Bakarganj drain in Ward 37, officials found piles of soil and construction aggregate on the concreted drain section. Immediate removal of the materials was ordered.
The inspection team also observed obstructions in parts of the drain caused by ongoing construction activities. The Municipal Commissioner directed officials to coordinate with the Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (BUIDCO) to remove the blockages and ensure uninterrupted water flow.
