Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) is carrying out a comprehensive citywide campaign to prevent the spread of mosquito-borne and water-borne diseases during the rainy season. The initiative includes daily two-shift fogging and door-to-door anti-larval spraying across all municipal wards under a planned micro-plan and roster.
The campaign targets residential neighbourhoods as well as public spaces, commercial establishments and potential mosquito breeding sites. According to the Municipal Corporation, fogging and anti-larval spraying are being prioritised at markets, malls, office complexes, apartment buildings, vacant plots, construction sites, drains and waterlogged areas.
Sanitation Measures Across the City
The Corporation said disinfectants, including lime, bleaching powder and other chemical agents, are being sprayed regularly at Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) after solid waste is removed. The measure aims to maintain hygiene and reduce the risk of infection during the monsoon.

Resources Deployed for the Campaign
PMC has deployed 58 vehicle-mounted fogging machines across its six administrative zones. The distribution includes eight machines in Azimabad Zone, nine in Bankipur Zone, 10 in Kankarbagh Zone, 12 in Nutan Rajdhani Zone, 13 in Patliputra Zone and six in Patna City Zone.
In addition, each municipal ward has been equipped with a hand-mounted fogging machine to cover narrow lanes, residential complexes and locations that vehicle-mounted machines cannot access.
The Corporation has also deployed 375 anti-larval kits across all sectors. Officials said the larvicide Temephos is being used to eliminate mosquito larvae and control breeding.
Operations Based on Micro-Plans
According to PMC, each zone has prepared a detailed micro-plan to guide daily operations. Fogging and anti-larval spraying are being carried out in two shifts every day in line with these plans.
The Corporation also said its teams are responding to complaints and requests from residents by visiting specific homes and localities to carry out fogging and anti-larval treatment where required.
Citizens Asked to Support the Drive
PMC has urged residents to prevent water stagnation around their homes, maintain cleanliness and cooperate with the ongoing campaign. Citizens requiring fogging or anti-larval spraying in their locality can contact the Corporation through its toll-free number 155304 or its WhatsApp chatbot at 9264447449.
The Municipal Corporation said it will continue the campaign throughout the rainy season as part of its efforts to reduce the risk of mosquito-borne and infectious diseases across the city.
