Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has collected only Rs 5.29 crore in the 20 days following the launch of its One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme, despite waiving penalties worth around Rs 82 crore.
The OTS scheme, aimed at encouraging property owners to clear outstanding dues, was introduced to provide relief and expedite tax recovery. However, the modest collection—Rs 3.80 crore in property tax and Rs 1.48 crore in solid waste management charges—has raised concerns within the municipal administration.
With approximately 2.93 lakh registered properties in Patna, officials had hoped for a significantly higher turnout. The low response highlights the challenges facing local authorities in mobilising revenue from the city’s potential tax base.
