Patna: A delegation representing employees of the Patna Municipal Corporation met mayor Sita Sahu on Tuesday to discuss a range of labour-related issues, including regularisation of daily wage workers and pending career progression benefits.
The delegation was led by Chandraprakash Singh, president of the Patna Nagar Nigam Joint Employees Coordination Committee.
During the meeting at the mayor’s office, the representatives also thanked Sahu for the recent decision to increase wages for daily wage workers.
Focus on regularisation and pending benefits
The delegation said the regularisation of daily wage workers remained a key concern, linking it to service security and long-term financial stability for employees.
Representatives also raised the issue of the suspension of ACP (Assured Career Progression) and MACP (Modified Assured Career Progression) benefits, which they said had affected employees’ financial and professional advancement.
They urged the mayor to facilitate approval of proposals related to both issues through the empowered standing committee and the municipal council before forwarding them to the department concerned.
Mayor assures consideration
Mayor Sita Sahu said the concerns raised by the delegation would be examined in accordance with rules and procedures.
According to those present at the meeting, the mayor said the municipal administration remained sensitive to employee welfare and would consider appropriate action on the pending demands.
Long-pending demands remain under review
Employee representatives said both regularisation and the release of ACP/MACP benefits had been pending for a considerable period and required early resolution.
The meeting concluded on what participants described as a cordial note, with the delegation expressing hope for progress on the issues raised.
