Patna: The murder of Shatrudhan Paswan, a handcart operator, who was shot in the head and neck while sitting outside his home in Diwan Mohalla, Hamam, has caused major distress in the state. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, and police are actively investigating the case.
Family members rushed Paswan to Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), but he was pronounced dead on arrival. Two bullet cartridges were recovered from the scene, and forensic teams have examined the area for further evidence. DSP-1 Rajkishore Singh indicated that the case appears to stem from a personal dispute, while Eastern SP Parichay Kumar said authorities are working to apprehend the culprits swiftly. CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify those involved.
The victim’s son, Abhishek Kumar, told reporters that his father had no known enemies. Paswan was sitting outside after a meal when a gunman approached and fired two shots at his temple and neck before fleeing on foot through a nearby alley.
The family reported that the victim is survived by four sons—Dharmendra (alias Sheru), Devendra (alias Tala), Jeetendra, and Abhishek—and two daughters, one of whom was married four months ago.
Police continue their search for the attackers, and the case has heightened concerns about safety in the Khajekalan area.
