Patna: As temperatures drop, traditional winter foods like sesame (til) and jaggery (gur) are being recommended by Ayurveda experts for their warming properties and health benefits. According to Dr Amarendra Kumar Singh of the State Ayurveda College, these foods are rich in calcium, iron, and healthy fats, which help maintain body heat, improve digestion, and boost haemoglobin levels.
Regular consumption of sesame and jaggery in small amounts can protect against stiffness, fatigue, and common cold symptoms during the colder months. These can be included in the diet as laddus, chikki, or powdered mixes.
Other traditional foods that support immunity and energy include peanuts, chikki made from sesame or puffed rice, ginger, honey, desi ghee, and warm soups.
