Patna: The Road Construction Department (RCD) has approved a major upgrade of National Highway 30 (NH-30), converting the left portion of the road from Bihta Chowk to Danapur into a four-lane thoroughfare. The 22.74-kilometre project, estimated at Rs 87.67 crore, is expected to be completed within two years.
Officials say the expansion will significantly ease traffic congestion for commuters travelling between western Patna and Bihta. The project is also set to strengthen connectivity with the new airport under construction in Bihta, reducing travel time to the capital and accommodating future increases in traffic.

“Commuting between Bihta, Danapur, and western Patna will become far smoother,” said an RCD official. “Together with the airport project, this development is expected to open new avenues for economic growth in the region.”
The initiative is part of broader plans to enhance regional infrastructure, facilitating trade, transportation, and emergency services. The RCD’s Executive Engineer for Patna West has issued a tender, with construction slated to begin soon.

Bihta Airport, currently under construction at a cost of Rs 1,453 crore, is expected to be completed in about three and a half years. Once operational, it will offer international flights and cover 126 acres of land, making it larger than the existing Patna Airport.
