Patna: A tragedy struck Karhara village in the Paliganj subdivision of Patna district when three members of a family — a father and his two sons — died suddenly after their health deteriorated on Tuesday night.
The deceased were identified as Neeraj Sao and his sons, Nirmal Kumar, aged eight, and Nirbhay Kumar, aged four. Nirmal died at home soon after falling ill, while Neeraj and Nirbhay died during treatment at Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH).
Relatives said the family had returned from a Ravana Dahan fair in Chandosh, where they ate golgappas before having dinner at home. “Late at night, all three complained of severe stomach pain. My grandson Nirmal died at home, while Neeraj and Nirbhay were taken to hospital but could not survive,” said Bharat Sao, father-in-law of Neeraj.
Police and forensic teams visited the site, with officers saying food poisoning may be the cause. “The deaths appear to be due to food poisoning, but clarity will come only after the postmortem report,” said Pramod Sah, Sigori police station in-charge.
The sudden deaths have shocked the village, with neighbours and relatives gathering to mourn the loss.
