Patna: In response to severe waterlogging and the heightened risk of mosquito-borne illnesses, Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched a special campaign combining rapid drainage with anti-larva and lime bleaching sprays in affected areas.
Following heavy monsoon rains, PMC teams are clearing stagnant water “on a war footing” and immediately spraying treated zones to minimise the spread of dengue, malaria, and other vector-borne diseases. Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar has directed all executive officers to ensure that every ward completes the process swiftly, supported by geo-tagged photographs for real-time monitoring.
PMC staff are also engaging with residents to promote preventive measures, such as avoiding water accumulation on rooftops and in containers. Anti-larva log books are being maintained in all zones, with homeowner signatures and cross-verification from headquarters to ensure accountability.
Citizens have been urged to cooperate with the initiative and to report any instances of waterlogging or the need for anti-larva spraying to PMC’s 24×7 helpline at 155304. The corporation has reiterated its commitment to keeping the city clean and protecting public health during the rainy season.
