Patna: With the enforcement of the election code of conduct, Patna Police have ramped up security measures and vehicle checks across the city. In one such operation, officers seized Rs 4 lakh in cash from a vehicle at NIT More under the Pirbahor police station limits.
Patna Central Superintendent of Police (SP) Diksha said the vehicle was travelling from Vaishali, and the occupants failed to provide satisfactory details or any receipts for the amount. The seized cash has been handed over to the designated seizure centre for further action.
In another operation, the Special Task Force (STF) and Patna Police recovered an illegal firearm, 16 live cartridges, and a fake arms licence during a raid at Keshav Palace in the Shastri Nagar area.
According to the Patna Central SP, the accused, identified as Dilip Kumar, a resident of Aurangabad, had been living on rent in Shastri Nagar. Police said they received information that Kumar was in possession of illegal weapons and allegedly used them to threaten locals. A country-made pistol, live ammunition, and a counterfeit UP Nigam licence were seized from his residence. Authorities confirmed that an investigation into the fake arms licence and the source of the seized weapon is ongoing.
