Patna: Five police officers, including a woman inspector, were injured after being attacked with stones during a raid in Patna late on Tuesday night. The incident occurred in Kamala Nehru Nagar when a team from Danapur police station, led by Inspector Brajesh Kumar and accompanied by Kotwali police, attempted to search a house linked to a kidnapping investigation.
According to police, the raid was part of an ongoing probe into the disappearance of Ram Laddu Kumar, a resident of Dwarikapuri in Khagaul, who has been missing since July 4. His wife had filed a kidnapping FIR, and during the investigation, the mobile location of a suspect was traced to the home of Riya Paswan in Kamala Nehru Nagar.
As the police attempted to enter the house for questioning, they were met with resistance. Officials say Riya Paswan objected to the search and allegedly instigated a physical confrontation, which quickly escalated. Stones were reportedly thrown at the officers by Paswan and several others, leaving five personnel injured.
The injured officers were taken to New Gardiner Road Hospital for treatment. Following the incident, a case was registered at Kotwali police station against Paswan and at least five other individuals.
Inspector Rajan Kumar of Kotwali police station said Paswan is a repeat offender. “She has a history of confrontations with the law. An earlier case was filed against her after she assaulted a female ticket inspector at Patna Junction,” he said. A charge sheet has also been submitted in that case.
