Prashant Kishore has ruled out any political alliance with Chirag Paswan, despite expressing personal admiration for him, stating that Jan Suraj Party will contest all 243 seats in Bihar independently.
Patna: Prashant Kishore, founder of the Jan Suraj Party, has stated that if faced with a choice among Tejashwi Yadav, Samrat Chaudhary and Chirag Paswan in an election, he would cast his vote for Chirag Paswan. However, he firmly ruled out any political alliance between his party and Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), even if Paswan were to part ways with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Kishore emphasised that his party would contest all 243 assembly seats in Bihar independently. His comments come amid speculation about a potential alliance, following recent public exchanges of praise between the two leaders.
Kishore clarified that while he shares a cordial relationship with Paswan, there are no frequent interactions between them. “We may speak once every six to eight months,” he said, dismissing any notion of daily contact or political collaboration. “We are not sitting together having tea.”
He lauded Paswan for not indulging in divisive politics, despite being aligned with the BJP. “He didn’t spread caste poison in Bihar and didn’t promote Hindu-Muslim fanaticism,” Kishore said, adding that Paswan practises “politics from Bihar, not Bihar politics.”
Yet Kishore was unequivocal about their political divergence. “Chirag is with the BJP, and I am fighting against it,” he said. “Even if he leaves the BJP tomorrow, there can be no alliance. Jan Suraj will contest all 243 seats.”
