Patna: A 24-year-old property dealer was shot four times by motorcycle-borne assailants in the Jyotishi Path area of Patna’s Ramkrishna Nagar late Tuesday night. The injured man, identified as Shubham Kumar Yadav, remains in critical condition, police said.
The shooting took place at around 10.30pm near Bhupatipur Jyotish Baba Road. According to preliminary information, Yadav had stepped out for a walk and was speaking on his mobile phone when the attackers approached him on an Apache motorcycle.
The assailants opened fire in quick succession before fleeing the area. Yadav sustained four bullet wounds and collapsed at the scene.
Injured Man Taken To Private Hospital
Local residents rushed Yadav to a private nursing home following the shooting. Police said he is undergoing treatment and his condition remains serious.
The firing triggered panic in the neighbourhood. Officers from Ramkrishna Nagar police station and Sadar-2 sub-division reached the spot after receiving information about the incident.
CCTV Footage Being Examined
Police inspected the crime scene and are examining CCTV footage from the area. Officials said the attack was captured on camera, and the recordings are being reviewed to identify the assailants and establish their movements.
Police are also questioning local residents and eyewitnesses to gather information about the attackers and the motorcycle used in the crime.
Property Dispute Angle Under Investigation
Sadar Police Sub-Divisional Officer-2 Ranjan Kumar said police received information about the shooting of Yadav, who is around 24 years old.
The motive has not yet been established. Kumar said police are investigating all possible angles and have deployed a team to identify and arrest those involved.
According to the Ramkrishna Nagar SHO, preliminary inquiries indicate that Yadav was associated with property dealing. Police are examining whether a dispute linked to the real estate business or personal enmity could have led to the attack.
No arrests had been reported at the time of reporting.
Attack During Crime Review Meeting
The shooting took place as police officials were conducting crime-control reviews in Patna, including meetings focused on preventing criminal activity and strengthening policing.
The incident has prompted police to intensify efforts to identify the attackers, with CCTV analysis and technical investigation being used alongside inquiries with the victim’s family and local residents.
