Patna: The Vigilance Department in Patna arrested a police officer on Friday while he was accepting a bribe, demonstrating strict action against corruption. PSI Ajay Kumar, posted at the Bahadurpur police station, was caught red-handed taking Rs 7,000 from a complainant, Vikram Jyoti, in connection with a pending case. Following the arrest, Ajay Kumar was produced before the Vigilance Court, and a case was registered under the Corruption Act. IPS officer Pankaj Kumar Daraj confirmed the matter and said that immediate action was taken after the complaint was received.
Reports suggest that PSI Ajay Kumar had been misusing his position for some time and had been demanding money from citizens repeatedly. On this occasion, he demanded Rs 7,000 in connection with a case, and the complainant reported the illegal demand to the authorities. The Vigilance Department acted swiftly, catching the officer in the act and preventing further corruption.

A formal case numbered 21/2025 has been registered at the Patna Vigilance Police Station under relevant sections of the Corruption Act, 1988. Officials said the matter would be thoroughly investigated and strict action would be taken against the officer. The authorities stressed that the investigation is being closely monitored to ensure transparency and fairness.
The Vigilance Department also sent a clear message to the public and government officials. They stated that corruption will not be tolerated under any circumstances and encouraged citizens to report illegal demands immediately. This arrest is seen as a strong warning to public servants who misuse their positions, highlighting the department’s commitment to clean and transparent governance.
