Patna: Rail services in and around Patna Junction will be significantly affected this weekend as the railway administration undertakes non-interlocking (NI) work at Neura station, triggering a two-day “mega block” on April 25 and 26.
The disruption is part of ongoing work to connect the Natera–Jatdumri rail line, with pre-NI activities already underway since April 18.
Trains Cancelled And Diverted
Officials said at least seven passenger and MEMU trains operating to and from Patna will remain cancelled over the two days, while 10 long-distance and passenger trains will be diverted via alternative routes.
Among the cancelled services are key short-distance passenger trains, including Patna–Sasaram, Sasaram–Patna, Patna–Ara and DDU–Buxar routes.
Several long-distance trains, including services from New Delhi, Indore, Ajmer, Surat and Lokmanya Tilak, will be rerouted via the DDU–Gaya–Jehanabad–Patna corridor.
Impact On Daily Commuters
The cancellations are expected to affect daily commuters relying on MEMU and passenger services, particularly on routes connecting Patna with Ara, Buxar and Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) junction.
Railway officials said the move is necessary to ensure safe commissioning of new rail infrastructure.
Delays And Rescheduling
In addition to cancellations and diversions, several trains will operate with revised schedules or controlled movements.
Key services, including the New Delhi–Rajendra Nagar Amrit Bharat Express and Rajgir–New Delhi Shramjeevi Express, will face delays ranging from 30 to 60 minutes across different sections.
Advisory For Passengers
Authorities have urged passengers to check train schedules in advance and plan their journeys accordingly.
While acknowledging the inconvenience, officials said the upgrade work will improve connectivity and operational efficiency in the long term.
