Patna: As many as 275 candidates received appointment letters for Central Government jobs at a Rozgar Mela programme held at Adhiveshan Bhavan in Patna on Saturday. The candidates were selected for posts across 12 Central Government departments, with the Income Tax Department accounting for the highest number of selections in the Patna programme.
The Patna event was part of the 20th Rozgar Mela, organised simultaneously at 45 locations across the country. According to the Press Information Bureau, more than 51,000 appointment letters were distributed nationwide during the September 19 programme.
Income Tax Department Has Highest Patna Selections
Of the 275 candidates who received appointment letters in Patna, 93 were selected for the Income Tax Department, according to the details of the local programme.
The remaining candidates were appointed to different Central Government departments and organisations. Nationally, the recruits are joining departments and ministries including Revenue, Railways, Home Affairs, Health and Family Welfare, Financial Services and Defence.
PM Modi Addresses Recruits
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the newly appointed candidates through video conferencing during the nationwide programme.
The 20th edition brings the cumulative number of appointment letters issued through Rozgar Mela programmes to about 12.75 lakh, according to the PIB.
The government has described the initiative as a mechanism for expediting recruitment to government posts and filling vacancies across ministries, departments and organisations.
Focus On Faster Recruitment
Union minister Giriraj Singh said during the Patna programme that the recruitment process for government jobs had become faster. He said that candidates in some cases are now receiving appointments within six months.
He also spoke about the role of young people in the country’s workforce and the need to create employment opportunities for the growing youth population.
These remarks were part of the programme’s broader focus on government recruitment and employment opportunities.
Employment Generation Discussed In Patna
Cooperation Minister Ram Kripal Yadav said creating more employment opportunities was a priority. He also referred to plans to restart sugar mills in Madhubani and Darbhanga, saying memorandums of understanding had already been signed.
According to his remarks, the proposed reopening of the mills is expected to generate employment and support economic activity in the surrounding areas.

The September 19 Rozgar Mela was conducted at 45 locations across India, with newly recruited candidates joining different Central Government ministries and departments.
