Patna: Patna is set to receive four major urban infrastructure projects on Friday under the Smart City Mission, with Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary scheduled to inaugurate three facilities and lay the foundation stone for another aimed at easing parking congestion in the state capital.
The projects include the Mithapur Common Service Centre (CSC), Riverfront Development and Zigzag Park along JP Ganga Path, two air-conditioned lounges for gig workers and Bihar’s first hydraulic multi-level bike parking system.
Mithapur CSC to Open
The Deputy CM will inaugurate the Common Service Centre at Mithapur, developed at a cost of around Rs 30 crore.
The G+3 facility has been constructed over nearly 26,000 sq ft and is designed to provide multiple public and commercial services under one roof.
The centre will house a bank, post office, municipal office, ATMs, retail outlets, supermarket, gym and restaurant. It also includes an open-air café, an open-air theatre and an amphitheatre for cultural programmes.
Officials said the facility is expected to benefit residents as well as students, as Mithapur is one of Patna’s major educational hubs.
Riverfront, Zigzag Park Ready
Another key project being inaugurated is the Riverfront Development corridor built along the Ganga from Digha to Sabhyata Dwar.
Developed at a cost of Rs 32.14 crore, the project is aimed at improving public access to the river and creating recreational spaces along the waterfront.
A 550-metre Zigzag Park developed between Kurji More and LCT Ghat will also be opened. Built at a cost of Rs 2.54 crore, the park features landscaped areas, seating facilities and more than 2,700 plants.
Lounges for Gig Workers
Two dedicated lounges for gig workers will become operational from Friday.
Located near Gandhi Maidan Gate No. 4 and Income Tax Golambar, the prefabricated facilities provide seating, mobile charging points and drinking water.
The lounges will be available free of cost and are intended to support delivery personnel and other gig economy workers during working hours.
Automated Bike Parking Planned
The foundation stone for Bihar’s first hydraulic multi-level bike parking system will also be laid on Friday.
The automated facilities are proposed near Maurya Lok, Boring Road and the Kadamkuan vending zone.
Authorities expect the project to help address parking shortages and reduce congestion in some of Patna’s busiest commercial areas.
